John Lim Dagsaan

A TREASURED MEMORY FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS. 

John was a gentle soul, someone who was understanding, and who kindly cared for others. He had a warm, approachable personality that made everyone feel at ease around him. He loved making people smile. Whether it was a funny or not so funny story, a thoughtful word, or just a kind gesture, he wanted to make people feel special.

John earned his first Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of La Verne. He later extended his studies, proudly, receiving his second Bachelor’s degree in IT at the University of Phoenix. Throughout his IT career, he was dedicated to his work and valued the many friendships he made at his workplace.

Volleyball was one of John's favorite recreational sports he actively participated in after work.  He always displayed great enthusiasm to be a part of the league.  His co-volleyball league mate was a co-worker of Grace's.  What started off as a jittery first date, flourished into a deep harmonious friendship, cultivating unbreakable solidarity. John and Grace were united as one in 2007. He was a loving husband to her for 17 plus years and a doting father to James and Avan. He found great joy in both his family and his job.

John was an anime fanatic, captivated by K-dramas, and impressed by the performances of Bruno Mars, which he could watch over and over again. During his last months, his most favorite foods included beef Kaldereta, Thai crab fried rice, and Pancit Palabok. John took delight in doing the simple things and savoring the moment with his loved ones. All that mattered to him was that we were cozy and content together. 

Through the years, John had experienced several painless symptoms, unknowingly, it would lead to his ALS diagnosis in 2023.  Because he didn't want everyone to worry about him, he kept his state of health to himself for some time until he could no longer hide the regression. He also needed that time and personal space to peacefully accept and deal with his condition. John truly loved and appreciated all those who took the time to genuinely express their love and support for him. We all know how deeply he loved us, even when he didn't always show it in the ways we might have expected.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a cheery spirit. John is forever cherished by his wife, Grace; their children, James, Avan, and Phoebe; their grandson, Noah; his father, Junieto, his mother Corazon, his sisters Cindy and Joan, and numerous loved ones.

Viewing will take place on December 20, 2024 from 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Cypress Room. Funeral Service will be on December 21, 2024 at 9:00 A.M. at the Patriots Chapel. All services will take place at Forest Lawn, Cypress.
