John Edward Celona

John Edward Celona, 89, was born on May 6, 1924, in Philadelphia, PA. He passed away on August 29, 2013. He resided for most of his life in Philadelphia where he worked for the BUDD Company for 45 years as a tool & dye welder. Was widowed in 1965 when his wife, Sylvia, passed away. He is survived by his daughter, Tina Silverman (Celona) and son, Ron Celona. Other than his children he leaves behind a grandchild, Samantha Torres, her husband Carlos, a great-granchild Gianna Torres. Also, his son in-laws Steven Silverman and Scott Sherman, his sisters, Helena Bosio (Celona), Anna May Purcell (Celona) and brother Emilio Celona Jr.
In his younger years he played the tenor saxophone during the big band era. Other pleasures in his life were trips to Atlantic City, NJ, helping others whether at work, the neighborhood or in his later life, people in the assisted living community.

He resided in Palm Desert, CA at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cathedral City, CA.
