Johanna Veerman De Jonge

July 6, 1923 — November 8, 2014

Johanna "Ans" moved into her new home in heaven on November 8, 2014. She was born July 6, 1923 in Bali, Indonesia to Erhard & Agnes Veerman. Johanna was the eldest of 5 children and their only daughter. She married Marinus F. deJonge and was happily married for over
50 years when he died February 19, 2008. They had six children, Yvonne (John) Flynn, Irene (Rick) Bassett, Paula (Brian) Moore, Leo deJonge, Louis (Jill) deJonge, Robert (Leticia) deJonge.

She was instrumental in leading her children to Christ and was involved in After-School Bible Evangelism which she hosted weekly for all the neighborhood children. She taught her children to fear God and would recite her favorite verses to them:

"Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)

"Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior." (Isaiah 43: 1-3)

Cooking and being with family was her mainstay. Johanna's favorite saying was, "do your best and God will do the rest" and that's how she lived her life. She always gave of herself to others; thinking of others' needs before her own. She is survived and loved by one brother, Theo Veerman, her six children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Three of her brothers and her husband preceded her in death.
