Joe Lewis Gant

Joe Gant was born on March 6, 1945 in Wolf Island, Missouri to Ralphous and Develar Gant. In 1965 he moved to Palm Springs California and began working for the City of Palm Springs Waste Disposal service. In 1969, he was joined by his first wife Mae Franklin and they have 5 children from the union. In 1975 he became a truck driver and later went to drive a cement truck for Superior Ready Mix. On October 12, 2013 he married his current wife Lucille Gant. Joe became an Ordained Deacon at Ajalon Missionary Baptist Church on June 22, 2008. He went to accept the position of facilities and transportation ministry leadership in 2013. Also, in 2015, he began serving as Assistant Chairman Deacon.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children: Melissa Franklin, Patricia Washington, Kavana Johnson, Teresa Gant, Yolanda Gant, Christopher Cunningham, Latisha Gant and Katherine Bunting. 3 stepchildren: Nacole McGaughy, Orlando McGaughy, and Dewayne McGaughy. 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Joe has 2 brothers: Arthur Gant and Cornelius Gant. 5 sisters: Beatrice Howard, Roselee Gant, Claralee Gant, Lois Gant and Margie Kirkwood. 2 sisters and brothers in-laws. He leaves behind a host of family and friends that will truly miss him.
Joe is preceded in death by his father Ralphous G Gant, and mother Develar A Gant, Sisters Shirley Gant and Betty Gant, Brothers Veolia Gant and Sylvester Gant.
