Joan Sims, age 77, was born on May 4, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to Willie Oliver Sims and Katie Mae Carter-Sims, and peacefully passed away on January 30, 2026.
Throughout her life, Joan resided in Chicago, Texas, and California. In 2026, she made the decision to return to California, where she resided in Stanton at the time of her passing. She will be remembered for her strength, grace, and the deep love she held for her family. Joan’s life touched many, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Joan is survived by her loving partner, Robert Guerra; her loving daughter, Sonya Jones; her granddaughter, Sierra McGee; and her grandsons, Thomas Robinson and Kayden Robinson. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: great-grandsons Makai Cayless, Royal Mann, and Caleb Mann, and great-granddaughter Skylar Mann.
She is further survived by her siblings, Bill Sims, Muminah Abdullah, Alvin Sims, and Kay Lee
