Joan T. Ouellette, 83, of Hampstead, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Colonial Poplin Nursing & Rehab in Fremont, NH, surrounded by her family.
Born in Lawrence, Mass. on November 25, 1932, she was the beloved daughter of the late A. Andrew Slauter and Anna (Burba) Slauter. Joan was raised and educated in Lawrence and graduated from St. Mary's High School. She later furthered her education by attending Northeastern University where she went on to pursue a career in the software engineering field. Later in life she took some time off to babysit her grandchildren and then later chose a different career path as a bridal consultant.
She loved spending time with her family and she was extremely devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joan enjoyed family traditions, especially at holidays. She loved people and was a very compassionate person, always providing love and support to anyone who needed her.
In her early years, she enjoyed vacationing with her family at Salisbury Beach and later in life enjoyed several trips to Disney World with her family and grandchildren.
She was a sponsor of two children from "Save the Children" Foundation, and was an active member of St. Francis Church in Lawrence, where she taught CCD classes for several years. After relocating to Hampstead, she attended Saint Anne's Parish.
Joan was an avid Patriots & Red Sox fan and also enjoyed politics, music and knitting for her great grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail M. and Chester Holt of East Hampstead, Debra J. and Bob Sasso of East Hampstead, two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian D. and Beverly Ouellette of Lawrence, MA, and Kevin M. and Kathleen Ouellette of Derry,NH, a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew R. and Claire Slauter of Atkinson, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Life Celebration on Sunday December 20, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin on Monday at 9;15 a.m. at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in Saint Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead.
