Joan Stoddard Jones

November 18, 1935 — July 18, 2018

Joanne Stoddard Jones was born on Nov 18, 1935 in Greenville Ohio to Robert and Marie Stoddard, a modest hard working mid-western family. Joanne proved that she would be a strong woman by surviving double lung pneumonia, at the age of two.  Joanne was the cutest little tom boy in town and could often be found climbing trees, riding horses, bicycles and so much more. At age twelve Joanne and her mother moved to Long Beach CA. Where she attended Washington Jr High School and Long Beach Polytechnic High School.
Joanne married and they created what Joanne considered her pride and joy, their beautiful baby boy, John Jones.
In the 70s Joanne became a proud member of the Eastern Star and the White Shine Masonic organizations. Her dedication to the organizations got her elected into a leadership role at the local chapter. This affiliation lead her to work with and support the Long Beach DeMolay Chapter where she provided a mother's positive attitude and encouragement to all the young boys and men in the chapter.
By the mid 80s Joanne joined the Long Beach Grand Prix Committee of 300. During her ten plus years with committee Joanne worked tirelessly to promote the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. Joanne's love for racing lead her to volunteer with the Indy Car Race Series promoting the various events in the 90s. .
Joanne's love for horses followed her from childhood to adulthood. She would seek every opportunity possible to be around horses, be it at the LA county fair or equestrian events.
Joanne lived her life to the fullest, loving everything that LA had to offer, especially all of its cultural events. It should be no surprise, with her love and pride for the the USA her favorite holiday was the 4TH of July. Her eyes would shine with a childlike excitement every time she watched the fireworks shows.
