Joan Debbage

Joan Debbage, 91, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 2nd, 2026, at her residence in Cerritos, CA. A memorial service will be conducted at noon on Thursday, May 7th at New Life Community Church, Artesia, California.

Joan was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Joan was born on February 9th, 1935, in Wallsend, England, daughter of the late William and Louisa Flynn. She was wife for 64 years to the late Lawrence Debbage, and is survived by her three sons, Keith (Terri), Michael (Gretchen) and Jeffrey, and four grandchildren, Neil (Shaina), Jane (Steffen), Megan (Reid) and Grace (David), and one great grandchild.

Joan worked as a receptionist secretary in Wallsend, England, before meeting Lawrence and was an avid Keep Fit instructor for many years. It was in Wallsend where Joan married Lawrence in 1955 and raised a loving family of three boys. They all emigrated to the Bahamas where Joan built a new and happy family home. She became an Aerobics Instructor and loved to spend weekends at the beach with family and friends. After a short time in Houston, Texas, the family finally settled down in Cerritos, California where Joan was active in her local church and loved to spend as much time as possible with her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jeffrey Debbage for the extraordinary level of compassionate and loving care he provided both Mom and Dad when most needed in their final years.
