Joan Marjorie Beyers

March 26, 1930 — February 25, 2017

Joan Marjorie Beyers, 86, born on March 26, 1930, in Los Angeles, California, passed away February 25, 2017, from complications due to multiple myeloma. She resided in Seal Beach, California at the time of her passing.

Joan is survived by: her children, John, Steven, and Pamela; her sister, Shirley; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her husband, Clinton Chester (Bob) Beyers predeceased her in 2002.

Joan Marjorie Davalle graduated from Pomona College, Claremont CA, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Zoology. She worked in a lab until she got married to Clinton "Bob" Beyers in 1952.  They were married for 50 years before he passed in 2002.

Joan lived from the age of 12 until 15 in Manzanar, an internment camp in the Owens Valley, California, during World War II.  Her mother was a school teacher there.

Joan enjoyed being a full time homemaker. She loved gardening and was involved in the local Garden Club, entering her roses and arrangements into flower shows.  She was involved in the PTA and Girl Scouts.  She was the little league treasurer and involved with AFS, a foreign exchange student program.  Our family welcomed foreign guests into our home for a meal, a weekend or even a year. She loved genealogy and she and her husband, Bob, often took trips to discover more information about our family. She published several genealogical books.   She was generous, making numerous donations to a variety of charities.

As many of her family and friends know, our Mom's favorite color was blue. If you already have a "something blue" and would like to wear it to our Mom's funeral in her honor, we would be happy to have you do so.

The funeral service will be held Saturday March 11th at 8:30 a.m. in Hope Chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4471 Lincoln Ave, Cypress, CA.
