Jin Pei Chen, born on February 15, 1948, in China, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, just days shy of his 78th birthday. His departure came after a courageous battle with health issues that included over a decade of kidney dialysis and a life-altering leg amputation. He faced these challenges with a resilient spirit, but ultimately succumbed as his heart stopped beating.
Jin Pei was not just an accomplished electrician; he was a loving family man who cherished his time with those he held dear. He had a profound affection for his five daughters: Emily, Brenda, Sherry, Wendy, and Kelly. His love for them extended to their families, including his two sons-in-law, Tony and Patrick, and his grandchildren, Emma, Alex, and Eden, all of whom he adored deeply. Jin Pei’s legacy of love and generosity shines brightly through them.
Having moved to the United States in 1999, thanks to the support of his sisters, Jin Pei embraced his new life with enthusiasm and warmth. His wife, Cheuk Ying, who passed away on February 28, 2022, was his steadfast companion and soulmate. With her now at rest, Jin Pei has joined her once more, leaving behind a family that treasures the memories they've built together.
Jin Pei's personality was one marked by kindness and openness. He was known for his loving nature towards his siblings, children, and grandchildren, always willing to lend a helping hand without asking for anything in return. Those who knew him will remember the moments shared over meals and his joy in spending quality time at home. He relished the simple pleasures in life, often found going for walks in the park, soaking in the beauty of his surroundings.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life during a funeral service on March 10, 2026, at Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills - Church of the Hills, located at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068. The service will commence at 9:30 a.m., followed by a concluding session at 10:30 a.m.
