Jessie A. Nimuan

Jessie A. Nimuan passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 21, 2023 at 9:36pm. She was 79 years old. She resided in Artesia, CA at the time of her passing. Jessie was a caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Jessie was born on January 13, 1944 to Cris and Adriana Alcantara. She grew up in Tugatog, Malabon Philippines. She graduated high school in 1960 and went on to college at University of the Philippines majoring in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration up to junior year. On March 2, 1963, she married her beloved Sammy and had their first child, Jesam. After Jessie and Sammy settled in married and parenting life, she went back to college (Far Eastern University) to complete her college degree - BSBA. She also studied dressmaking.

In the 70's, the Nimuan clan immigrated to the U.S. and took residence in Artesia, CA for 45 years. Her first job in the U.S. was at the Los Angeles clothing district sewing clothes. In 1977, she took a job at Studio Photo Services that resulted in a long career and promotion to Vice President of Finance and Administration. Studio Photo Services processed and developed still photos for the movie industry. She retired in 2010 but remained a consultant for few more years.

Jessie was a quiet person, an observer but stubborn. She was a giving person to friends and relatives and do not expect anything in return. She was generous to her grandchildren – showered them with gifts and money. She loved to sew, ballroom dance, go to Vegas, travel, shop, collect souvenirs and things that she thought pretty. She was an amazing cook - her pancit, lumpia, adobo, and menudo are beyond delicious. But most of all, she loved being around with the family. In the past six years, she slowed down a lot due to health issues.

Last year, the family mourned the passing of the family patriarch. Since then, she had been missing her beloved husband, Sammy. They were together for 60 years.

Jessie is survived by her children - Jesam (Steven), Riza, and Jon; grandchildren - Jourdan, Kryxiane, Stevie, Daeja, Marlon, Amanda, and Jais; and great granddaughter, Emme. Jessie is also survived by her siblings - Ellen, Bert (Jenny), and Cristy.

Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Cypress, CA.
