Jesse Thymes

Jesse Thymes, 82, born on January 2, 1944, in Maringouin, LA, United States, passed away on August 25, 2026. He resided in Los Angeles, CA at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Glendale, CA.

Jesse Thymes was born on January 2, 1944. He was one of thirteen children born to the union of Bartimus and Mary Alice Thymes. Growing up in Maringouin, Louisiana, Jesse was an exceptional athlete excelling in both track and field and basketball as a teen. While in high school, Jesse dated and later married Yvonne Butler. In 1967,  the couple moved to Southern California. From this union two children were born, Kim (Donald) and Kevin (Stacey). Jesse also had a son Kenneth from a separate relationship.

Jesse was an entrepreneur and had many businesses over his lifetime including an antique store and a record store that sold smashburgers long before they went viral on social media.  However, his true passion came from helping others and developing communities. Jesse received more than a dozen awards from Man of the Year to the Mayoral Award for his contributions and involvement in the West Los Angeles Cadillac Corning community. He loved networking, bringing people together and empowering them. He had even considered running for public office. 

Jesse enjoyed living in  sunny Southern California, but he traveled to Louisiana every chance he got. He regularly drove across the country for reunions with friends and family. Even after his health began declining, he still insisted on attending Mardi Gras in his home town one last time.

Jesse managed multiple apartment buildings throughout the West Los Angeles area until his death. He is survived by his three children, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, five siblings, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He will truly be missed.
