Jesse Wallace Bird

March 14, 1928 — January 2, 2014

Jesse W. Bird, born in Oklahoma on March 14, 1928, passed away on January 2, 2014 at the age of 85. He was a resident of Palm Desert and spent the majority of his adult life in the Coachella and Imperial Valleys. He was a masonry and concrete contractor by trade, but also a master builder who could construct anything, from block walls to commercial structures and residential buildings. He joined Indio Elks Lodge at the age of 22 and was a member for 63 years. At the age of 45 Jesse found the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. He took her by the hand, and for 40 years they walked through life together as they played, loved, laughed, shot, fished, hunted, and enjoyed life. He had an unsurpassed love of life and a passion for the outdoors. Whether shooting shotguns, hunting, competing, or fishing, Jesse's dedication and enthusiasm were unmatched. He is survived by his wife, Deanne; his daughters, Jessie Carolyn Jordan and Sherry Lynn Johnson; his stepchildren, Daniel Robert Williams and Michelle Marie Williams; his grandchildren, Richard William Delay, Amanda Lee Carter, Ryan Christopher Johnson, Camaran Ann Johnson and Savanna Grace Williams as well as other family members. Jesse was a kind, loving gentleman who will be greatly missed by many. A remembrance of his life will be held from 12:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday, January 26th, at his home in Palm Desert.
