Jess Henry Marin

Jess Henry Marin, 86, born on May 12, 1928, in Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2015. He resided in San Dimas, California, at the time of his passing. He was the husband of Lucy (Santa Cruz) Marin and the father of two daughters whom he dearly loved. Born in Los Angeles, CA., he was the only son of Julia Mosqueda and had one older sister, Bertha Alvarado. He attended Roosevelt High School in Los Angeles and joined the U.S. Air Force serving three years from 1946 - 1949. He worked and managed retail jewelry stores and in 1971 purchased his own retail jewelry store in West Covina, CA. After twenty years of self-employment, he retired in 1991. After retirement, he spent his remaining years with his wife and seven grandchildren who were his entire world. He and Lucy went to many sporting events his grandchildren participated in which included many out of state trips. In 1979, he joined Christ First Baptist Church and served as a greeter for more than thirty five years. His love for the Lord and his family were his most precious things in his life. Besides his wife of 60 years, he is survived by his daughters Laura Ann Rodes, Dianne Antoinette Gatto, Son-in-law Michael Arthur Rodes, Grandchildren, Kassandra Marie Allard, Eric Michael Rodes, Vincent Joseph Gatto, Briana Lee Rodes, Nicholas Alexander Gatto, Joseph Bernard Allard, and Amanda Gail Gatto. A private graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress CA on Wednesday, January 14.
