Jerome (Jerry) Israel Millman, MD, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2016. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him.
Jerry was a devoted husband to his wife, Dr. Felicitas (Fely) A. dela Cruz. They met in 1972 and were blessed to have enjoyed a loving and fulfilling marriage for nearly 40 years.
Jerry joined the "Old Cranks" Cycling Club, where he formed close friendships, and loved spending many of his retirement days on one of his bikes with his cycling buddies.
Jerry was well known for his quick wit, intelligence, generosity, and loving nature. He touched the lives of everyone he met, and he will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and cycling buddies. He actively supported causes engaged in seeking justice, safeguarding civil rights, and conserving the environment.
Jerry was born on April 19, 1934 to Louis Millman and Sara Michaels Millman in Detroit, MI, where he grew up. He obtained both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He enjoyed a successful career as an anesthesiologist, and retired in 1996 from Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood, CA, where he had worked for 20 years.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; late wives, Audrey Sinclair Millman and Dena Shevitz Millman; and his son, Martin (Marty) Neil Millman.
In addition to being survived by his wife, Fely, Jerry is also survived by his daughter, Elissa Millman; daughter-in-law, Zorrest Pennell Millman; granddaughter, Meleigha Millman; grandson, Martin Brant Millman; brother, Stanley Millman and wife, Doreen; sister, Elinor Millman Bernstein and husband, Howard; and many nieces and nephews across the country.
The memorial and funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 20 at 4:30 pm at the Old North Church, Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068.
