Jeffrey Norwood Henry

August 17, 1956 — March 17, 2015

Jeffrey Norwood Henry, 58, musician and IT professional, died of natural causes at his home in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, March 17, 2015. Jeff made his mark on the world in many ways but it was his bigger than life personality, easy smile and generous heart that created lasting impressions. He was a natural born comedian and his great sense of humor was a hallmark of his personality. Jeff had a wide range of interests and talents including motorcycles, golf, photography, fine cuisine, art, poetry and travel. Throughout his various pursuits, music was his muse, and his passions included song writing, music recording, and playing acoustic and electric guitar.
Jeff was born in Bryan, Texas, August 17, 1956, to the late Vernon J. (Jim) Henry, Jr., and Judith G. (Judy) Henry. His father was a marine geologist and his mother was a library scientist. While his dad served as director of the University of Georgia's Marine Institute, Jeff and his sisters lived on a Georgia barrier island accessible only by boat and attended a one-room school house. After graduating from high school in Savannah, GA, he attended Armstrong State College and the University of Georgia, where he received his B. A. in English.
After moving to Los Angeles, Jeff worked for Specialty Laboratories in Santa Monica. He volunteered as a sound designer with the Pacific Resident Theatre. His soundtracks and effects were praised by Variety and other theatre critics. Subsequently, he was an IT lead analyst for Quest Diagnostics, a position that suited his life-long love of learning and technology.
Survivors include his close companion, Judith Bautista, her two children, Russell and Joanne Perez; his sisters, Leslie E. Henry (Wesley Hacking) of New York City, New York and Carolyn H. Rader (Jeff) of Decatur, Georgia; nieces and nephew, Olivia, Audrey and Thomas H. Rader of Decatur, Georgia; uncle, Jack Garretson (Janice) of Tuscaloosa, AL and aunt, Diane Frazier (Wilford) of Houston, TX; as well as numerous cousins and close friends.
A celebration of Jeff's life will be held at his home in North Hollywood, CA on April 11, 2015, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and in Savannah, Georgia on July 25th. Friends and family may contact Carolyn Rader at chrader@bellsouth.net for details. Donations can be made in memory of Jeff to the charity of your choice.
