Jeannie Johnson hoped to live to 80, and she did!
She was born in June of 1937, in Springfield, Massachusetts and passed away in September of 2017 where she resided in Orange County, California.
Jeannie was fun, personable, generous, adventuresome and highly relational which was helpful, having made 13 moves before settling down with her own family. Her first job was as a telephone operator back in the days of switchboards where operators physically connected lines of communication. Her most coveted role was being our Mom, raising four responsible children. Over the years her favorite past times were Mahjong, bowling, decorating eggs and going to the movies.
Life isn't always fair she would tell us and when challenges came her way she modeled strength, courage, dignity and tenacity. Rising above adversity she went on to become an Office Manager within the medical field and to assist in running a family business until her retirement when she enjoyed grandchildren. Along the way Jeannie took the opportunity to help many women to get grounded when they themselves struggled. It gave her great joy to hand out $100 bills to bless someone's day. In the later years many would come to recognize our Mom as the happy soul in her power wheelchair nicknamed "Miles". She enjoyed many an adventure with her joy rides and many in the community came to recognize her and often waved as she flew down paths in her bright moo-moo dress.
The photos of our Mom, Jeannie, depict the happier days of her life, including her beloved pet Joe, who brought her great joy and comfort.
Our Mom is loved and missed by her children: Debbie, Kathy, Kelly and Jim, plus son-in-laws Jim and Mark, daughter-in-law Carol, as well as grandchildren, Tara, Kyle, Corey, Jimmy Jr, Becky and Rob, along with surviving siblings Joan, Patty and Bob.
Having suffered with cancer our Mom held a special place in her heart for children who suffered as well so please consider a tribute gift in her name to St Jude Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers. She will enjoy your visits in the days and years to come, especially if you bring sweet pea flowers to Interment space: 2, Lot: 457, Section: Garden of Protection.
Thank you for loving our Mom.
