Jeanette Callaway-Farmer, 82, passed away on November 1, 2012 at her home in Claremont, California. She went home to God's holy kingdom to receive his crown of everlasting life. She was born on October 1, 1930 in Athens, Georgia to Robert and Annie Callaway.
Jeanette grew up in Athens, Georgia. She graduated from Athens High Industrial in Athens, Georgia. After high school, she married and eventually relocated to southern California of which she was a resident for 55 years. She worked for the Xerox Corporation and retired after 35 years of service.
Jeanette married Curtis Farmer in 1949 in Athens, Georgia, who preceded her in death in 2011. They were married for 62 years. She enjoyed gardening and raised prize worthy roses.
Jeanette is survived by her sons Larry Farmer and Clark Curtis Farmer, Jr. of Claremont, California, and daughters Joan (Nolan) Richardson of San Diego, California, and Joyce Farmer of Atlanta, Georgia; her brothers and sisters Helen Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia, Roberta (Herbert) Walker of Detroit, Michigan, Christine Thomas of Hartford, Connecticut, Janice Brown of Atlanta, Georgia, Major Callaway of Atlanta, Georgia, Joyce (Clarence) Killian of Atlanta, Georgia, William (Kim) Callaway of Athens, Georgia, and Terry Callaway of Athens, Georgia; her grandchildren Nicoli Richardson, Jessica Richardson, Brandon (Beverly) Callaway, Alexandra Richardson, and Schyler Callaway; her great-grandchild Jaia Aguirre; and her 41 nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Annie Callaway, and siblings Virginia Hall, Robert Callaway, Jr., Mildred Sims, Herman Callaway, Lillian Hammonds, Daphne Tinsley, Patricia Miller, and Angela Crawford.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 10:00am to 1:00pm and the funeral service will follow at 2:00pm at the Church of Our Heritage at Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks & Mortuaries - Covina Hills, 21300 Via Verde Dr., Covina, California 91724. Burial will follow the funeral at Forest Lawn â Covina Hills.
