Jean N. Surette

Plaistow, NH: Jean N. “Mimi” (LeBlanc) Surette, 73, a resident of Plaistow for the past thirteen years and a former resident of Haverhill and longtime resident of Lynn died at Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA on February 21, 2013.

Born in West Pubnico, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late Clarence and Evelyn (Fitzgerald) LeBlanc, she was raised in West Pubnico and educated in Yarmouth graduating from the local high school.  Employed first as a secretary and later briefly in the local shoe industry, Mrs. Surette was a housewife and homemaker for most of her life.

Active at the Vic Geary Center in Plaistow, Mrs. Surette, known affectionately as Mimi to her grandchildren and their friends, was a devoted grandmother and enjoyed gardening, playing cribbage, and raising her pet Beagle.

Mrs. Surette is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Paul D. Surette, her three daughters and two sons-in-laws, Clarene J. & Michael Taylor of Plaistow, Sonya A. Surette of Plaistow, and Erica J. and Eric Olsen of Sandown; her twin sister Joan Selkirk of Thunder Bay, Ontario; her seven grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda Taylor, Samantha, Colleen, Mathew and Nate Olsen, and Bridget Surette.  She was predeceased by her son, Kirk P. Surette who died in 2000. 

Relatives and friends may call on Monday, February 25, 2013 from 4 to 6:45 PM at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH.  Her funeral will follow directly at 7 PM at the funeral home.
