Jean Steele

Jean Steele, 75, born on September 1, 1947, in Glendale, California and raised in Eagle Rock passed away peacefully on June 30, 2023 in Long Beach, California from complications due to the aggressive cancer she battled over the last two years. Jean leaves behind her only child, daughter, Erin Steele; son-in-law, Tim Griffin; younger brother, Jim Horstman; nephew, Brent Horstman and his wife Kristi; six great nephews, along with many cousins and extended family members .

Jean will be cremated and laid to rest at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills on July 22nd at 9AM with a lovely graveside service. The scenery around her grave is spectacular, and she will have a prime view across the cemetery to where her parents are resting, and nearby her nephew Damian. Erin recommends you arrive at Forest Lawn by 8:45AM, check in at the gate for directions (a loose map will be provided to you), and make your way up the hill to the site of the services.

After the graveside service, Erin will host an open house Celebration of Life for her mom at K.C. Branaghan's in Long Beach from 1-4PM. K.C. Branaghan’s was one of her mom's favorite restaurants in Long Beach, and it was often a gathering spot for family get togethers, not to mention a frequent flyer on her take-out list when she was bedridden at home.

Parking is available on 2nd Street directly in front of the restaurant, across the street, or the surrounding streets. There is a small parking lot where you can also park. Casual attire is definitely permitted (if you choose) for the celebration of life event and her graveside service (it's going to be a hot one on 7/22).

Feel free to come to one or both events. Erin understands it may not be possible for you to attend both. As hard as this is, Erin, would love to have you join in either celebration of her beautiful mom finally being free from her diseased and painful body.
