Plaistow, NH: Jean L. (Donovan) Smith, 85 of Plaistow, died on May 8, 2015 at Boston Medical Center, from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident in Newton, NH earlier in the week and was predeceased one day earlier by her beloved husband of sixty-five years, Glenn W. Smith.
Born, raised and educated in Somerville, MA, she was the daughter of the late Jeffrey and Lillian (Wise) Donovan and has spent her whole working career as a clerk, secretary and receptionist, first at A.B.Dick Co., and later from 1976 until 1984 at Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow and then at Pulsar Alarm Systems. Most recently she was still employed as the reception at Penacook Place in Haverhill.
A resident of Plaistow since 1969, Mrs. Smith was a member of the former Holy Angels Parish and she enjoyed sewing and knitting, and attending summer theatre productions in Ogunquit, Maine. As a young woman she was an accomplished ballet and acrobatic dancer and was named Mrs. Massachusetts in 1955. She also enjoyed many summers with her family at their home on Lake Attitash.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Maryann S. and Aaron Little of Plaistow, a sister Ellen Roche of Merrimac, her three grandchildren, Mylee, Chase and Benjamin Smith, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Frances D. Nardo and Carol Ganley.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. The funeral service for Mr. & Mrs. Smith will take place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with burial to follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac, MA.
