Jean was a native New Yorker born in 1940 to Victor and Josephine Wright. Her sister, Diane, was born two years later and the family enjoyed traveling to Europe and around the states. From an early age, Jean excelled in her studies, landing herself on the honor roll annually, and was offered an academic scholarship to college. She worked as a secretary in Manhattan in the early 1960s. She and her future husband, Vincent, worked in the same building and met at an office party. They married in 1963 and shortly after moved to California following a job offer for Vince. Jean received an AA degree and earned an X-ray technician certification; she worked in the medical field for over 20 years. Jean enjoyed her work and the opportunity to connect with patients and co-workers. She had a very social nature and was intentional with her relationships. She loved spending time with friends, neighbors and members of the Red Hat Society. She was a member of St. Ireneaus Church for nearly 50 years and enjoyed monthly lunches with fellow St. Ireneaus moms. Jean had a heart for those in need and supported many organizations that focused on the welfare of children. She was very involved with H.O.P.E., an organization dedicated to serving families in need, and enjoyed the many years she volunteered there.
Jean was a breast cancer survivor and loved to encourage others to have faith and hope while battling their illness. She found comfort and friendships through the breast cancer support group through St. Ireneaus, and would advocate for various cancer research organizations. After losing her husband in 2014, Jean continued to encourage others as a member of the grief support group also affiliated through the church. Jean valued her family very much and cherished the time she was able to spend with her three children and two grandchildren.
On December 22nd, Jean unexpectedly received a stage IV pancreatic cancer diagnosis. She was able to spend Christmas surrounded by her loved ones before entering into eternal life on December 29th. She found comfort in the presence of her family and friends, and the angels she felt protecting her throughout her life. Jean's remaining days were spent in dignity surrounded by her children.
