Jean Mcclendon Golden

April 15, 1921 — November 5, 2017

Jean McClendon Golden, 96, born on April 15, 1921, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away November 5, 2017. She resided in Los Angeles, California at the time of her passing.

Jean Golden was a mother, sister and wife. She had a rich, full and often challenging life in all three roles. She leaves behind a younger brother and sister, 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great grand children.

She managed a teaching career of nearly forty years as a 3rd grade school teacher, while raising 3 boys and being a devoted wife. For example, on more than one occasion, Jean sewed complete Halloween costumes on her trusty Singer sewing machine for her sons.

Jean was an accomplished artist. She was part of an art class that travelled the world to places like China, Japan, and many European countries.

She was gregarious and full of fun, as she often could be heard about the home laughing or streaking loudly over some silly incident. At the same time, she was also a loving task master, which means she didn't take guff from anyone.

Jean and her husband Charles were fans of big band swing music. Put on a Count Basie record and you were likely to witness the couple smoothly gliding and swaying across the room.

Jean often accompanied her husband to Vegas. She wasn't much into gambling, but she loved patronizing the shows on the Strip.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Glendale, California.
