December 26, 1930 — January 19, 2020

Javier "Spike" Salinas, 89, was born on December 26, 1930, in La Paz, Bolivia; he passed away January 19, 2020 in Thousand Oaks, CA. He was the middle child of Teresa and Armando Salinas; his older brother was Mario and younger sister was Roxana. He lived in Bolivia until he went to college at Iowa State, where he majored in Industrial Economics and Engineering and learned to speak English.

After college, he returned to Bolivia and lived there until he met his wife Carole. They married in Acapulco in 1958 and moved to New York City, where they lived for a year. When they married in Acapulco, neither of them was employed.

They shortly moved to Ohio, where their children Lisa and Mark were born. Spike and Carole raised their family in Puerto Rico and New Jersey. In 1990, Spike and Carole moved to Jacksonville, Florida and enjoyed traveling the world in their free time. Spike was tenacious, motivated, hard working, and resilient - he only fully retired when he moved to California in 2018.

Spike cared deeply about his family and his Catholic faith. He is survived by his loving wife Carole, his sister Roxana, his children Lisa and Mark, and his four grandchildren, JT and David Mindlin, and Tara and Leah Salinas. He resided in Thousand Oaks, CA at the time of his passing.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, California.
