Janie Masterson

Janie Masterson, 92, born on November 10, 1930, in Monterey, TN, United States, passed away March 19, 2023. She resided in Lakewood, CA at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Cypress, CA.  Janie died at a skilled nursing facility in San Juan Capistrano, surrounded by her loving family, who will honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.  

Janie, an only child, lost both her parents when she was young and was an orphan by age 16.  With the support of local Tennessee relatives, Janie was able to get through high school and attend nursing school.  While working as a Nurse at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, she met the man of her dreams, Harold.  

Harold and Janie were married, started a family and moved to Lakewood, California.  There, Janie became the Mother to three boys, Thomas, Samuel and Walter.  Janie is preceded in death by her Husband, Harold and her youngest Son, Walter.

Thomas and Samuel went on to start their own families and Janie became caring Mother-In-Law to Lauren.  Starting in 1985, Janie became a Grandmother to Jyn, Jessica, David, Gregory and Bradley.  All of Janie's Grandchildren have since married, and made Janie a Great-Grandmother with the birth of Moreley, Camdyn, Coey, Emilia, Theodore and Martin...with yet another on the way.

Janie loved cooking, gardening and bingo and she loved to be part of family gatherings.  We all love her so much and she will be deeply missed.  There will be a brief graveside service for Janie, on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 2:30 PM, at Forest Lawn Cypress.
