Janie Hickson

Janie Hickson, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, in Los Angeles, California. Born on February 3, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia, Janie touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit.

Janie's memory will forever be cherished by her surviving family members. She is the devoted mother of Theodore Hickson and is lovingly remembered by her siblings, James Saffo and Laura Bell Johnson, as well as her brother-in-law, Archie Critney. Her nurturing nature extended to her numerous nieces and nephews, including Monique Romero, Steffanie L. Romero, Jaray J. Romero, Christopher A. Romero, Elizabeth R. Romero, Maya S. Romero, Belinda Marquez, and Jazmine Oliver.

Though Janie's life was marked by challenges, she held a strong bond with her family, which provided her with love and support throughout her journey. Her legacy will live on not only through her family but also through the countless friends who experienced her vibrant personality and caring heart.

She was preceded in death by her dear son, Tracy Hickson, and her siblings: Hattie Lue Saffo, Jessie V. Crawford, Bertha Fuller, and Ervin Saffo Jr., as well as John Saffo. Each of these individuals played a significant role in her life, shaping her into the remarkable woman she became.

The visitation in honor of Janie will take place on November 5, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Forest Lawn – Cypress, located at 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, California. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same location from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM.

As the family gathers to celebrate Janie's life and legacy, they invite all who knew and loved her to join them in honoring a remarkable woman who brought joy, love, and a sense of family to all her engagements.
