Janet Qualm

May 5, 1939 — July 22, 2025

Janet was born on May 5, 1939, on Brandt Street in Dearborn, Michigan to proud Italian immigrants Michael and Josephine (Brusco) Signorelli. The Signorelli's had four children. In 1947, the family moved to California. That move became the foundation of a life filled with faith, love and family. Janet attended Thomas Jefferson Elementary, Robert Bellarmine for a short while, then John Muir Junior High, and Burbank High School.

Janet first worked with her Dad when he cleaned movie theaters. She dedicated her career to various roles, starting as a cashier at Thrifty Drug, and later contributing her skills to many jobs from office clerk, secretary to a spot welder for Purex Pool Products.

Janet met Keith and they were engaged in June of 1958 and married in September at the Silver Bell Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. They raised five children. Being a mother was Janet's greatest calling; her children were the center of her heart and her proudest accomplishment in her life.

Beyond her family, Janet had a passion for music that resonated deeply within her soul. She especially cherished the melodies of Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, and Tina Turner, often singing and dancing along. Her zest for life was evident in the many photographs where she posed like a model with one arm behind her head, goofing around and capturing the spirit of joy that characterized her personality.

Janet had a beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, and a spirit that brightened every room. She was known for her upbeat attitude and her natural warmth. Janet could talk to anyone and carry a conversation making a connection. She loved crafting and painting, and she loved the casino!

Janet's friends fondly recalled how she would often be called "Sophia," a nickname earned from her striking resemblance to the iconic Sophia Loren, highlighted by her radiant smile and Italian good looks. Janet really loved this!

Janet cherished every moment she shared with her children. Janet's favorite memory was walking her kids to her Mother's house. Janet's children were all her favorite! Janet loved outings and trips to Las Vegas with her sister Patty, with whom she had a close sisterly bond. Janet loved getting together with the Burbank girls laughing over lunch, sharing stories, and making memories. These gatherings created a tapestry of memories intertwined with laughter and camaraderie. Janet was the plus one.

As she embraced life fully, Janet held her family close to her heart. She was deeply proud of her five children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who delighted in her stories and basked in her unconditional love. Her dog, Pinky brought immense joy and companionship.

Janet's departure leaves a significant void. Survived by her children, her sister, a brother; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and her dog.

On her 86th birthday in May, Janet was surrounded by all five of her children — the one wish she held closest to her heart. That day, her smile said it all.

She reunites with her late husband, Keith, her parents Josephine and Michael, her sister Dolores, and her cherished girlfriends Bingo Ronnie and Barbara which they are probably at Casino Heaven.

Janet's legacy is her five children. Her legacy is one of faith, laughter, and unwavering love she had for her family. She was most proud of her children. They were everything to her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Janet's dog, Pinky joined her on October 24, 2025.
