Janet Marie Walker, a beloved figure in her community and a cherished family member, was born on January 18, 1938, in Akron, Ohio. She passed away on April 22, 2025, in Newport, California, leaving behind a legacy of joy, strength, and an unwavering spirit.
Janet dedicated her career to working in electronics, where her independent and strong-willed nature shone brightly. She graduated from high school in Arizona before moving to California, where she began to build her family. Her relationships were central to her life; her proudest accomplishment was her family, and she would do anything for them.
Janet’s personality was characterized by her funny, happy, and joyous demeanor. She had a profound love for people, often going out of her way to help those in need. She filled her life with a variety of interests; among them were her passions for music and dance. A devoted Dodgers fan, she also loved watching Tigers Wood play golf. Weekends at the Moose Lodge brought her great joy as she enjoyed line dancing has kept her spirit vibrant. Country music and the timeless tunes of Elvis Presley brought music to her life, while gatherings with family often revolved around her love for playing the piano, singing, and enjoyed playing keno.
Throughout her life, Janet created cherished memories with her family during summer vacations in scenic destinations such as San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, and Las Vegas.
Janet leaves behind her brother, Robert Stephan, and sister-in-law, Susan Stephan. She is the proud grandmother of Stephanie Arce and her husband Robert Arce, and Robert Directo and his wife Kelly Directo. Additionally, she is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Robert Arce III, Nicholas Arce, Aaron Arce, Kaylee Directo, Coraline Directo, Theodore Directo, and Abigail Directo. Janet was predeceased by her daughter, Candy Directo, son-in-law, Inocencio Directo Jr., and her husband, James Walker, along with many other loved ones.
Visitation services for Janet Marie Walker will be held on June 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Forest Lawn - Cypress Hope Chapel, located at 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, CA. A funeral service will follow on June 9, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Forest Lawn - Cypress Patriots Chapel. The services will conclude with a reception at the Garden Grove Church of Nazarene.
Janet Marie Walker's warmth, kindness, and infectious joy for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
