Jane A Johnsen

September 28, 1933 — May 24, 2019

Jane was born to Joe and Anna (Clune) Maloney in Springfield, Massachusetts on September 28, 1933. She was the youngest sister to Bill, Mary and Eleanor (Bunny).

Jane married her sweetheart, Harold Johnsen, in 1950. Their daughter Debra was born in Springfield and shortly thereafter Harold and his brother-in-law drove across the country to California to find work and make a new life for their families. The two families soon settled in the beautiful orange-grove town of Pomona, where their son Steve was born.

Harold and Jane traveled extensively throughout their 60 years together, with Harold playing some of the finest golf courses in the world, while Jane enjoyed the sights. Jane was an avid reader, loved movies, and always looked forward to a cup of hot tea. A woman with impeccable taste, she enjoyed shopping, and had a remarkable flair for decorating.

Jane, a Realtor and Broker, co-founded Village Realty in Indian Wells. Later, together with husband Harold, they formed Johnsen Real Estate and Desert Princess Rentals, a vacation rental business that has been successful for more than 30 years.

Harold and Jane both loved Idyllwild, owning two cabins throughout the years. Shortly after Harold died, Jane at age 80 moved to Idyllwild with her two cats to start a new adventure, buying and remodeling a cabin just a short distance to church and to town. A devoted animal lover, she enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels, and puttering in her garden.

Jane is survived by her daughter Debra Crosson (Mike) of Palm Springs, and Steve Johnsen (Chris Hunter) of La Quinta, as well as her granddaughter Elizabeth Crosson (husband Ryan Berger and great granddaughter Iris) and grandson Matthew.

A long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Jane was loved by all who knew her. Known for her honesty and sarcastic wit, she had a strong love for life, family, friends and cats.

Jane is and always will be deeply loved and profoundly missed.
