Jane Lynne Ash
As a devout CHRISTIAN, JANEY ASH completed the journey she had prepared for all her life when she left her home in CATHEDRAL CITY on THURSDAY, August 24, 2018, to join THE LORD in PARADISE. Cancer may have won the battle but JANEY won the war.
Born in Illinois on JUNE 26, 1947, she moved at an early age to Southern California with her parents, LYLE and MARY SNAVELY, and her beloved sister, LAURIE, where she grew up in CANOGA PARK graduating from CANOGA PARK HIGH SCHOOL in 1965.
JANEY was an accomplished HORSE WOMAN and rode her horse, PEPPER BELL, all over CATALINA ISLAND for 10 years before moving to CATHEDRAL CITY with her first husband, FRANK ERNEST. She was very proud of her job at the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE from which she retired in 2008. JANEY could not go anywhere in the COACHELLA VALLEY without being recognized as that cheerful lady from the post office.
It was at the post office that STEVE ASH was fortunate enough after 7 years to finally get a date with her and they married on 03/03/03 at 3:00 p.m. of course. This was the absolute best 15 years of both of their lives; filled with love and joy; travel and adventure.
Janey was a lifetime member of FIRST CHURCH of CHRIST, SCIENTIST and was a very active member of the PALM DESERT congregation; serving, among many other ways, as head of CHILD CARE.
After her devotion to GOD, JANEY was passionate about THE CATHEDRAL CITY HISTORICAL SOCIETY of which she is one of the founders. After retiring, she spent many hours as treasurer and helping her HISTORICAL SOCIETY grow. For this, she was honored in 2014 by being nominated for the ORION AWARD as VOLUNTEER of the YEAR.
In addition to her husband STEVE, JANEY is survived by her precious sister, LAURIE TALBERT(DAVE) of BARK RIVER, Michigan; her DAUGHTER by MARRIAGE, TRACIE MILLER(CHRIS) of Springfield, Virginia; grandchildren by marriage, Tyler Peulicke, Colemen Bailey and Amanda Bailey; all of Cathedral City; cousin, J.L. Zimmerman and dear niece, LeeAnn Kaiser. She is also survived by hundreds of friends who will all miss her terribly.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 NOON, THURSDAY, August 30, 2018, at FOREST LAWN CEMETERY in Cathedral City.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to THE CATHEDRAL CITY HISTORICAL SOCIETY, P.O. Box 444, Cathedral City, Ca 92234 or website Cathedralcityhistoricalsociety.com
