James Don Struble

James Don Struble, 88, born on March 20, 1929, in Paris, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2017. He graduated from Springdale High School in Pennsylvania in 1947 and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He served aboard the USS Toledo in the Korean War and participated in the bombardment of Inchon prior to the historical US amphibious landing. After leaving the Navy he worked as a refinery foreman for Unocal for 30 years. He resided in Lakewood, California at the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Marilyn Johannes, and his daughter Jeri Denise Barton(Dallas). He is survived by his daughter and caregiver Jacque Dobbins and her husband Steve(Long Beach), his son Jim Jr.(Dallas) and his brother in law, Bill Johannes and wife Diane(Fullerton). His grandchildren are Kelli Jacobson and husband Thomas(Long Beach), Kate Dobbins(San Diego), Sanders Barton(Dallas), Skylar Barton and wife Diane(Dallas), Tre Struble and wife Lindsey(Dallas), and Steele Struble and wife Julie(Dallas). His great grand daughter is Hannah Wells Struble(Dallas). Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Long Beach, California. A private family graveside service will be held at 9:30 on Saturday, September 16, 2017. In lieu of flowers the family requests that anyone who wishes do so make a donation to the charity of their choice in James' name.
