We are sad to announce the passing of Jim Linder of Anaheim, CA. He passed away peacefully at home at the age of 80 on April 28, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones following his battle with cancer.
Despite his prognosis, his attitude remained positive, and he always wore a smile on his face. He enjoyed watching classic tv shows and movies, listening to hits from the oldies, visiting Knott’s Berry Farm, walking on the pier in Newport Beach, parking near the runway of the John Wayne Airport to watch planes take off and land, going to airshows to watch the Blue Angels fly, and a sunny day at the track to watch the thoroughbreds race. He was sharp as a tack and incredibly stubborn, living his life on his terms and exactly the way he wanted until the very end. He had a love for snacks and soda, basically everything a diabetic shouldn’t eat. His last meal consisted of a bowl of vanilla ice cream and a diet Pepsi. Of course, he would up and die six months ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Since the dead can vote here, who will be casting his? Don’t make him roll over in his grave, California.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda. He was a proud father to a son and daughter, Darrow and Laurel, father-in-law to Cori, and grandfather to two grandsons, Jacob and Zack.
A private graveside ceremony will be held with only close family members present.
There will be a celebration of life to honor the memory and cherish the legacy of Jim, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, & colleague. Please join us as we gather to share some of our favorite memories, our stories, to laugh, to cry, and to remember a very special man who is greatly missed. All that knew him know he always brought joy and contagious laughter wherever he went. Though our hearts may be heavy, let us come together to find some peace in the love and support of one another. Lunch and refreshments will be served.
In remembrance of Jim Linder's life and love, the family asks that charitable donations be made to SU2C. https://standuptocancer.donorsupport.co/-/NEQRPVXY?member=SQTTKWEL
The Dash by Linda Ellis
I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on the tombstone
from the beginning...to the end.
He noted that first came the date of birth
and spoke the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
that they spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved them
know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own --
the cars...the house...the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.
So, think about this long and hard.
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
that can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
to consider what's true and real,
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
and show appreciation more,
and love the people in our lives
like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
and more often wear a smile,
remembering this special dash
might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy is being read
with your life's actions to rehash,
would you be proud of the things they say
about how you spent YOUR dash?
