JAMES LEO KRIEG peacefully departed from this life and returned to his heavenly Father on November 10, 2018 at the age of 69. He was surrounded by his wife, Marilyn and his loving Daughters, Justine and Courtney. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father grandfather and brother.
Jim was born in Buffalo, New York on May 29, 1949 to Adelene and George Krieg. He lived in Buffalo for 19 years where he played high school football for the Kenmore East Bulldogs. Jim was recruited by Jim Owens, to play for the Washington Huskies with Sonny Sixkiller. He was a two-year letterman at wide receiver while at Washington from 1970 to 1971. In 1970, his 54 receptions for 738 yards were the most in program history to date. Known as a tremendous special teams player, and as of 2012, still holds Washington's kickoff returns records for career touchdowns ( 3 ) season touchdowns ( 2 ) and career average (27.7 yards/return). Following his Washington career, Jim played in December, 1971 EAST-WEST SHRINE GAME and 1972 Hula Bowl. In 1970, Jim was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 5TH round of the NFL Draft. In 1972, Jim owned Country Club Liquors for 30 years in Palm Desert before becoming a Realtor with Bennion Deville Homes for the past 10 years.
He was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Church with Monsignor Lincoln. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Jones Krieg, two wonderful daughters and their spouses: Justine and Cameron Kiosoglous, Courtney and Charlie Tanner and two grandchildren, Cole and Cate Tanner. Marilyn's children: Cindy Landon, Lorrie Attalla and Chuck Blower. Grandchildren: Jen Landon, Sean Landon, Allie Attalla and Prescott Attalla. Brother and Sisters and spouses: George and Kay Krieg, Cheryl Gerber, Mary and Chinni Mokka.
With his diagnosis of glioblastoma brain cancer, Jim's attitude was always positive and he gave everything he had to fight it. Jim never lost his sense of humor and his love of life. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Forest Lawn Ramon Chapel. Funeral Service to be held at 2:00 p.m.
