James Lewis Gerrie Jr

April 23, 1934 — February 7, 2025

The years will never wipe away the happy days we spent together.

James (Jim) Lewis Gerrie passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in the Bronx, NY, Jim’s early years were spent in Mineola, Long Island, and Scarsdale, New York. His childhood was marked by achievements like earning the rank of Eagle Scout and his summers spent making solar oven pies as a camp counselor, a reflection of his caring and inventive spirit.

Jim graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he thrived both academically and athletically, playing lacrosse and earning All-American honors. His time at college was defined by both athletic dedication and lasting friendships. Jim went on to serve his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, later becoming a 1st Lieutenant, spending two years in France as a supply officer.

It was at a friend's wedding that Jim met the love of his life, Judy Noyes. Their whirlwind romance led to 63 years of love, laughter, and shared memories. Together, they raised two children while Jim built a successful career at IBM, moving with his family through various cities in New York and California.

In 1974, the family relocated to Palos Verdes, CA, where Jim devoted much of his time to coaching Little League and softball, volunteering, and being a member of the Rotary Club, always giving back to his community. These years were filled with family ski trips, adventures, and countless cherished moments.

After 37 years with IBM, Jim retired to focus on his passions, especially golf. He and Judy moved to Palm Desert, CA, where Jim enjoyed golfing regularly and traveling with friends and family. His later years were filled with joy, especially when he spent time with his beloved grandsons, Hunter and Oliver.

Jim is survived by his wife Judy, son Kevin (Jennifer), daughter Lisa (Jeff) Brewer, grandsons Hunter and Oliver Brewer, his brother Andrew Arthur Gerrie and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James L. Gerrie Sr. and Marie Vill Gerrie, and his sister Jean Duncan. A

“Dad Joke Pioneer”, Jim’s legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and love, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
