James "Jim" Edward Fulk, 70, was born on July 14, 1953, at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond Indiana and passed away July 26, 2023 at the home he shared in La Quinta California with his partner, Kevin Biersack. Jim was raised in Hammond's Hessville neighborhood on Alabama Avenue where he and his brother Larry were raised in a loving home by his grandmother and mother, both named Irene! Jim lived on Terrace Ave in Munster IN and then on State Line Road in Lansing IL while operating the successful Headlines Salon for many years in Highland IN. In 2001, Jim and his partner Bob, made the move to the California desert in the Palm Springs area.
Jim was a favorite uncle and is survived by his nephew Todd Fulk and his wife Melissa (Missy) of Valparaiso IN; niece Tracey (Fulk) Dibble and her husband Duane of Chesterton IN; niece Jennifer (Fulk) Hancock and her husband Benjamin (Ben) of Porter IN; and niece Jamie (Fulk) Wass and her husband Michael (Mike) of Downer's Grove IL. He also liked to say he was "GREAT-Uncle Jim" to his 13 great-nieces and nephews, Karac, Keegan, Kevin, Jake, Lindsey, Ethan, Vivian, Roman, Ryan, Irene, Steven, Isabelle and Sophia.
Jim was a step-Uncle to Kevin's nieces and nephews, Greg Biersack, Doug Biersack, Lisa Biersack, Matthew Biersack, Brooke (Biersack) Broerman and her husband Mike, Todd Biersack and his wife Michelle (Woeste), Ashley (Biersack) Gaenzle and her husband Anthony, and Amy (Biersack) Jarrett. He was Papa (a treasured grandpa) to Elyse, Lana, Greyson, Wesley, Arielle, Noah, Elijah, Gracie, Isaiah and Oliver.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Irene (Bokodi) Fulk of Hessville IN; brother, Larry of St. George UT; and Robert "Bob" Riley of Rancho Mirage CA.
Jim's arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Cathedral City, CA. He was laid to rest on August 8, 2023 and now resides in the Sacred Palms garden at Forest Lawn mausoleum.
A Celebration of Life was held in northwest Indiana at Kuiper Funeral Home in Highland IN on September 30th from 11 am through 2 pm for a visitation with family and friends and the Celebration at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to Humane Indiana Animal Shelter @ 421 45th Avenue, Munster IN 46321 in the name of Jim Fulk (for his feline kids Alec, Corey and Jack).
A second Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Lawn in Cathedral City CA on November 4 from 2 pm to 5 pm for visitation with family and friends and the Celebration at 3 pm.
