James Henry Eaton, 68, of Long Beach, California, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 16, 2024. Born on August 9, 1956, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Darwin G. Eaton, Jr. and Georgia L. Eaton, Jim lived a life of purpose, joy, and unwavering faith.
A devoted husband to Sheri Eaton, and a loving father to Brittany Kurtz, Christopher Eaton, and Sydney Yurek, Jim's life revolved around his family and his faith. He was a servant leader, an exceptional businessman, and a friend to all who knew him.
Jim’s greatest passion was living for Jesus and sharing the gospel with others. He exemplified his faith through acts of service and leadership, always striving to “lead like Jesus.” His love for life was evident in his enthusiasm for travel, golf and cheering for his favorite teams: the Los Angeles Kings, Oklahoma Sooners, Los Angeles Rams, and both Dodger and Angels baseball.
Jim’s guiding principle was simple yet profound: “It will be good.” He approached life’s challenges and triumphs with an unshakable faith in God’s plan. His favorite verse, Romans 12:12, perfectly encapsulates his outlook on life: "Be Joyful in Hope, Patient in Affliction, Faithful in Prayer."
He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith. Jim’s one wish was for his family and friends to continue loving Jesus and to carry forward His message of hope and grace. He was a light to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his impact will be felt for generations to come.
Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Long Beach, California. In lieu of flowers for the memorial service, the family suggests honoring Jim's memory with a donation to the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Medical Center, where Jim received care and participated in their Fight Against Cancer walk this past October. Instructions for making a donation are provided in this link: https://fundraise.givesmart.com/form/JD-FKA?vid=1gtc01
