James Tyrie Dunlop, 86, born on December 22, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, passed away March 5, 2015. He was a long time resident of Westchester, California.. He worked at Western Airlines for many years before starting his own business. He was very active in ALSO Women's soccer in the south bay area and served as Coach and Commissioner for many years. He was also very involved with the California Republican Association and a proud member of the NRA. He was very proud of his Scottish roots and still attended annual local Scottish festival events. A childhood case of polio left him partially disabled but he never let it stop him from leading a full and active life. He passed away peacefully surrounded by "all his favorite people."

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Olive, three daughters, Julie Birchfield (Jerry), Keri Harrington (Tom) and Barbara McAulay (Dave), six loving grandchildren, Heather Cawthorn (Jeff), Aaron Harrington (Jacquie), Nicky Chavira, Kyle McAulay, Steven Harrington, Nicole McAulay, former son-in-law Nick Chavira and four step-grandchildren, Kim Goergen, Jerry Birchfield, Jennifer Birchfield and Kristy Nevins. Brother-in-law Bob Reed (Ethyl) of Tennessee, niece Lisa Grover of Tennessee, nephew William Reed of Michigan as well as many cousins in the U.K. will mourn his loss.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to St. Jude's Children Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.


*There will be a private visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for immediate family only.
*Friends and family are welcome to visit from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
