James Chang

November 30, 1931 — September 19, 2025

James Kien Ming Chang, 93, born November 30, 1931, in Shanghai, China, passed away September 19, 2025 in Woodland Hills, CA.

He was one of seven children born to Reverand An Teh “Andrew” Chang and Tsao Iao “Julia” Chang.

James studied chemistry in college then moved to Hong Kong to study aircraft engineering . After graduating from school in Hong Kong, he had an opportunity to further his studies as an aircraft engineer in Southampton, England. Upon completion of his studies, he graduated and decided to move to the United States.

In 1961 he met Flora, the love of his life, and they were married on July 28, 1962. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past July.

Upon retirement from his aviation career, both he and Flora decided to obtain their real estate licenses and came out of retirement to became real estate agents. They both enjoyed their time as real estate agents where they were able to help and serve others.

James was a very quiet, family man who served God and was very active in church. He sponsored and helped many family members from both his family and Flora’s in order for them to move to the United States. He loved fishing and enjoyed working with his hands. He was often puttering around and fixing things around the house. James and Flora were blessed to be able to travel extensively during their retirement to many countries in Europe and Asia as well as the U.S. James was a wonderful provider and had many financial achievements during the course of his life. In addition to his aviation career, he purchased multiple properties, fixed them up for rental and managed the rental properties for income over the years. James was the ultimate planner and provider who financially supported many family members throughout his life. His kind, generous nature always led him to do what he could to take care of everyone and anyone who needed help.

James loved God and his family with all his heart. His last days were surrounded by many close friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife, Flora and two children, John and Juliet. We are blessed to have had James in our lives.
