James H. Brewer was born on January 16, 1921 to Corima Booker and James Brewer in Logan, Texas where he received his early education. He moved to Chicago with his dad and was raised by his grandmother and graduated from Wenedell Phillips High School. He married Juanita Ricks with 3 children to this relationship, Yonetta White, Ronald Brewer and Herbert Brewer.
He enlisted in the navy where he proudly served in World War 2 and the Korean War. After the Navy, he relocated to California with his mother and brother, Laval.
He met and married the love of his life, Corine Brewer. They spent many years traveling to Las Vegas for Keno Tournaments where they made many friends.
He retired after working over 30 years at Hughes Aircraft starting as a maintenance worker then truck driver and worked his way up to management.
After his retirement, he became a regular with the 50+ senior club activities. When his wife Corine became ill, he diligently cared for her over 4 years until her passing.
He could be found working in his yard maintaining his garden, caring for his roses, picking his oranges and grapefruits which he always shared with neighbors and others.
His wife, mother, grandmother, father and 2 children preceded him in death. He is survived by his son James Herbert Brewer Sr., grandson James Brewer Jr., Richard Brewer; granddaughters Nyoka, Natasha and Juanita White, grandchildren and great grandchildren Yonetta Littlejohn, Christian Stampley, Deja Hood and Jeremiah Romero; Angel, Christopher and Connie McBride, beloved daughter-in-law Ruth McBride with grandsons Arthur Burris and Fred Hemphill, Shaaron Richardson, dedicated caretaker for him and Corine and a host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
