James C. Alosi

Atkinson, NH: Captain James C. Alosi USNR (Ret.), age 74, of Atkinson passed away on November 6, 2013. He was a member of St. Anne's Parish, Hampstead, NH and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Jim was born on April 5, 1939 in Fall River, MA the son of the late James W. and Anita (Garipey) Alosi. He was raised in Fall River-Tiverton, RI areas and graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School, Fall River. He also graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth with a BS and did graduate work in Engineering Management at Northeastern University. He also was the graduate of numerous professional management, engineering, marketing, sales, electronics, computer, etc. educational courses.

His civilian career spanned over 35 years in the high tech industry encompassing roles in engineering, marketing, sales, management, and consulting in computer systems/networks working for companies such as Honeywell, University Computing Company, Boeing and Digital Equipment Corporation serving customers in the financial, electronics, engineering, etc. plus many other industry segments. He also had roles involving major/national accounts management of companies such as ADP, Arthur D. Little, CITIBANK, Army Corps of Engineers, etc. After retirement, he consulted part-time with semiconductor and high tech companies such as Analog Devices, C.P. Clare and Draper Labs.

He served over 37 years of active and reserve duty in the U.S. Navy retiring as a Captain. He graduated from Navy OCS, Newport, RI, and on active duty served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation (CVA-64) as Second Assistant Navigator, JOOD at the ship's commissioning and a Carrier Air Traffic Control Officer. He then reported aboard the amphibious ship USS Telfair (APA 210) as the Navigator. He completed active duty as a Program Officer-US/UK Liaison Officer with the Navy's Special Projects Office Technical Representative (SPOTR—SP 24) at Sperry Gyroscope Corporation and British Royal Navy involving the Polaris submarine Fleet Ballistic Missile Navigation Subsystem program.

His Navy Reserve duty included Surface Divisions assignments and migrating to computer consulting projects for the development of the USN Shipyard MIS at the Portsmouth/Boston shipyards. As an instructor with the Naval Reserve Office School (NROS) 101 he received a commendation from the Chief of Naval Technical Training for proposing, developing, teaching, and publishing a 40 session NROS "Digital Computer Systems Management" course. He was then assigned to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems (SPAWAR) Command unit in various Department Head/Computer Systems Program Consulting roles managing various (SPAWAR) programs such as the development and implementation of a third party consulting program involving the Navy SPAWAR/USAF JTIDS communications projects at the MITRE Corporation. He also worked at SPAWAR Headquarters on various command wide projects and programs, which included a special study at the Naval War College, which formed the basis in the implementation of a PC LAN based network for War Gaming activities there. He was a member of various professional military organizations such as The Boston Ward Room Club, Surface Navy Association, Navy League, and The Military Historical Society of Massachusetts.

Jim loved the seashore, outdoors, and travel. Most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Jim was predeceased by his parents and sister Sharon (Alosi) Tirrochi. He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Margaret (Fazio) Alosi of Atkinson, his son Christopher and his wife Tanya, a grandson Kyle and a granddaughter Taryn of Wylie TX, a brother Brian and his wife Barbara of Plymouth, MA, and an aunt Carol Alosi Euston and her husband Joseph Watson of Chevy Chase, MD, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday at St. Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead at 11:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors to follow in Atkinson Cemetery.
