Jacqueline Toliver Hines, 74, born on August 7, 1944, in King George , Virginia, passed away September 30, 2018, due to complications of a blood clot in her lungs. She resided in Pasadena, California at the time of her passing. Burial arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California.
She was a devoted wife for 45 years to Paul "Doc" Hines. Her husband, Paul, was the offensive line coach for the 1971 T. C. Williams High School football team featured in the Disney movie "Remember the Titans", and preceded her in death in 2012. She was a wonderful mother to her two children, Paula Hines Lonergan and Michael Lorenzo Hines.
In 1966, she graduated from Virginia State University with a Bachelor of Science Home Economics degree. After her marriage to Paul that same year, they relocated to Washington, D.C.In 1970, Jacqueline and Paul, with their two small children moved to Fort Washington, Maryland, in their family home on Bock Road. In 2013, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she decided to relocate to California to live with her daughter.
She started her teaching career in Washington, D.C. Later, she taught in the Prince George's County School District. She worked at Potomac High School, James Ryder Randall Elementary School, and was a substitute teacher.
Jacqueline was active in voluntary community service and outreach ministry work as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 44 years. For many years, she dedicated herself to visiting the elderly and infirm regularly at retirement and convalescent homes in the Fort Washington area. She was a loving, sweet, and generous person who gave encouragement to so many.
Jacqueline leaves behind her daughter, Paula Hines Lonergan and son-in-law Daniel, and her son, Michael Lorenzo Hines and daughter-in-law, Juliette, her brothers and sisters: Joseph, Agatha (Sis), Ramona, and George, as well as nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, friends, and acquaintances who will miss her greatly.
A memorial service for Jacqueline will be held at the Kingdom Hall located at 450 West Claremont Street, Pasadena, California, on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. It will be followed by a repast where friends are invited to come and share their memories of Jacqueline and comfort to each other.
