Jackson Tieu

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jackson Tieu, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on January 3, 2025, in Pasadena, California. Born on November 28, 1936, in Saigon, Jackson was the eldest of eight children, raised in a lower middle-class family. His journey through life was a testament to resilience, bravery, and an unwavering commitment to family.

Jackson was not only a dedicated pawn shop operator and owner but also a passionate educator, having pursued some college education before embarking on his entrepreneurial career. With an innate intelligence and an indomitable spirit, he learned the jewelry trade, ultimately opening his own pawn shop. Through hard work and determination, Jackson amasses great fortune, exemplifying the notion that success is rooted in perseverance and dedication.

In 1978, Jackson bravely escaped the throes of communist Vietnam. Accompanied by his mother, immediate family, siblings, their spouses, and their children, Jackson's resolve to find freedom and opportunity in America was rooted in love and a deep-seated belief in the potential of his family. This courageous act set a foundation for his children and grandchildren to pursue their own American Dream, a legacy that he took immense pride in.  For that, we will forever great full to have the opportunity and lives we have today.

Jackson's kind-hearted nature resonated throughout his life. He was the most compassionate and loving person, often putting the needs of others before himself and his immediate family. Even those closest to him took advantage of his kindness, it never bothered him; rather, he always proclaimed that family is the most important and money can be found through our very own hard work and perseverance. His extraordinary ability to forgive and maintain strong family bonds is a testament to the depth of his character.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Muoi Tat, and his cherished children: Leanne Tieu, Joy Tieu, Tracy Tieu, Michael Tieu, Charlie Tieu, Anthony Tieu, and Vinnie Tieu. His legacy will continue through his beloved grandchildren: Diana Escobedo Tieu, Vivian Tieu, Jessica Tieu, Olivia Chiang Tieu, Cayden Tieu, Calvin Tieu, and Petti Tieu.
