Jack Uhern

Jack Vernon Uhern, 88, passed away on July 14, 2024, in Palm Desert, California. Born on November 27, 1935, in Streator, Illinois, Jack lived a life marked by dedication, service, and the joy of constant learning.

 After serving honorably as a Sergeant in the Army, Jack embarked on a notable career with the Southern California Gas Company, where he dedicated 35 years before retiring. His work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the many he served throughout his career.

Post-retirement, Jack found a new passion in educating the elderly community in Palm Desert on computer skills. His expertise and patience made him a beloved figure among his students. Jack's love for technology extended into his personal life where he was proficient in using tools like Photoshop, and he stayed connected with his family and friends through various digital platforms such as Marco Polo, email, Facebook, and Nextdoor.

 Jack was also an avid photographer, capturing beautiful moments and landscapes, which he skillfully enhanced with his artistic touch. His love for the great outdoors was shared with his family, instilling a sense of adventure and appreciation for nature in his son, John, through camping, fishing, and cycling.

 Jack's life was beautifully intertwined with his wife, Carol Uhern, who preceded him in death after 61 years of marriage. He is survived by his son John, daughter-in-law Lisa, grandchildren Valerie Westerholm, Kevin Uhern, Dillon Uhern, and great-grandchildren Warren, Eli, Abram, Nixon, June, Georgia, Curtis, and Hayli.
