J. Douglas Traxler, 95, born on September 1, 1919 in Montpelier, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his sleep from old age February 9, 2015. He resided in Pacific Palisades, California, at the time of his passing. Doug was raised in Filmore, California. Doug worked as a petroleum geologist in the oil industry for over 50 years. He was the President of the Western region for Signal Oil, which is now Shell oil company. He graduated from UCLA with his Masters degree in Geology. He was a Leutenant commander during WWII in the Navy, where he served active duty and assigned to the Pacific fleet, Malibu USS ship. He retired the USN after 23 years of honorable service. He had two children, Saundra and Steven and his life partner/wife Patricia, who were married for 65 years until she passed at age 89. Doug also had a grandson David and his brother Donald. He is survived by his two nieces Rika and Linda and his sister in law Sue who took care of him for the last 6 years of his life, as he suffered from Dementia in the last few years. "Uncle" Doug, as everyone called him lit up a room with his bright smile and gentle and warm heart. He will be greatly missed by many who knew him. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.
