Izaak was born on September 29, 1931, in Malang, Indonesia, to Abednego Alexander Rambing and Caroline Polii. He was the eldest of 11 siblings.
Izaak started working at the age of 17 to help support his parents financially as a kitchen helper on a dutch shipping line, KPM. That started out his career as a cook maritime worker. Learning by doing was his motto. Izaak also worked with other shipping line such as, RIL(Royal Interocean Lines) and Djakarta Lloyd. He also worked for an offshore oil rig at Patra Jasa. Because of his skill and expertise in the kitchen, Izaak was called to help the Indonesian military during TRIKORA(Three Commandos of People) in delivering goods and preparing meals to the Indonesian army in Papua. Before retiring, Izaak worked at Freeport in Papua and North Sulawesi.
Izaak married Doortje Mamesah in Bandung on April 6, 1961. They were blessed with two daughters, Feronika "Fera" and Grace. In 2001, Izaak migrated to the US with his wife and had lived there ever since. His eldest daughter, Fera. followed suit years later.
Izaak is survived by his wife, daughters, and four grandchildren, Pamaya, Robert Jr, Bram, and Marchelino.
Funeral service held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, starting at 9 a.m. at Forest Lawn, Covina, CA.
Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, CA.
