Ivy Lee Tizeno, 88 of Redondo Beach, California passed away at her home on Wednesday, February 3, 2022.

Born on November 20, 1933, in Houston, Texas to Sarah Ann Southall King and Julius Caesar Chappel King, the second of five children. Ivy or Ivy Lee as some lovingly called her, had a long and full life. She moved from Houston to Los Angeles as a young single mother with her three young girls on the Southern Pacific Railroad train in 1956. As she would often say, 2 by the hand and 1 on the hip. By her example she instilled strong morals and values, the importance of education and a solid work ethic that her girls would carry with them into their adult lives, and passed on to their children. Ivy graduated from Jack Yates High School in Houston, Texas and attended Los Angeles City College.

Ivy was a proud resilient woman who held fast to her beliefs and was outspoken about where she stood. She was always seeking to share her wisdom with those she loved. She was full of grace and laughter, she loved color and believed that color could change your mood. She enjoyed providing her tips of the day, charm lessons and beauty secrets with all the girls and women in her life. Ivy was most proud of her families' accomplishments and achievements from the youngest to the oldest and never missed an opportunity to celebrate their births, graduations and promotions.

Ivy was highly regarded and respected throughout her work life performing in various administrative positions at LAUSD schools such as Ritter Elementary, Hale Junior High, El Camino High School and also in other jobs at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Swim Stadium, the Los Angeles Convention Center, Loyola Marymount University and Robinsons Department Store.

Her volunteer life included registration of new voters and active participation in the PTA and an honored member of The Order of the Eastern Stars. Ivy enjoyed travel throughout the United States and abroad.

One of her special joys was finding just the right card and gift for family and friends birthdays and other celebrations.

Ivy was preceded in death by: Sarah & Julius King (Parents), Richard Caesar King (Brother) Ruth King (Sister), Gloria Dean Allen (Sister), and Carolyn Jean King (Sister).

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Jean Lynel Cunningham, Bernadette Kirkwood and Donna Marie Singleton. Son In Law, Ed Kirkwood, Grand daughter, LaVada Patrice Solomon, Grandsons Mark Edward Kirkwood and Brian Charles Kirkwood, Grand Daughters In Law, Katiuska Delgado Kirkwood and Tiya Weatherall Kirkwood, Great Grand daughters, Jazmynne Ashley Moore, Nadia Simone Kirkwood, Briyah Noelle Kirkwood and Layla Jordan Kirkwood and a host of other relatives and treasured friends.

We will miss our Mother, Gram, Grandma, GiGi dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend in her presence and she will remain in our hearts forever.
