Iupeliauro Fano Faalevao

Iupeliauro Jubilee Fano Fa'alevao, 63, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on October 31, 2013. Jubilee was born on April 16, 1950 in Fagaalu, American Samoa. Her parents were the late Reverend Fa'alevao Nehru Amito'elau Fano and Safua Vaili Pepe Fano.

Jubilee spent her early childhood in Taputimu, American Samoa, where her parents served as minister in the Congregational Christian Church. The rest of her childhood was spent in Fagaalu, American Samoa, where her mother and siblings relocated due to the sudden death of her father. Jubilee was active in the Congregational Christian Church of Fagaalu serving in the youth and Sunday school under the leadership of the late Rev. Suiaunoa and Tailua.

Jubilee attended elementary school in American Samoa. She was a very bright student and was honor roll throughout high school. Jubilee attended Samoana High School in Utulei, American Samoa, and graduated as salutatorian of her Class of 1969. She earned an off-island government scholarship where she enrolled at California State University Chico pursuing a degree in nursing. She transferred to California State University Long Beach, where she completed her Bachelor's degree in Health Science. While a student at Cal State Long Beach, Jubilee was also working as a nurse's assistant at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, CA.

Jubilee was a long time resident of the city of Long Beach, CA. She worked as a Clerk Typist 3 at the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) from March 23, 1981 until her retirement on January 7, 2011. Jubilee dedicated 29 years of service to LBPD.

Jubilee attended the Congregational Christian Church in Carson, CA, and later in life was a visitor at the First Samoan Congregational Church in Oxnard, CA.
Jubilee was a loving sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was active with her traditional heritage by contributing to family obligations in Samoa and especially here in the mainland. Jubilee was a generous aunt to her nieces and nephews that she would not hesitate to provide financial support in time of need. Jubilee enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading books, playing bingo, and adored her cat Lulu.

Jubilee is preceded in death by her parents Rev. Fa'alevao and Safua Fano, brothers Fatuvalu Frank Fano, Ifitoto Tuatau Fa'alevao, HC Pepe Faiva Fa'alevao, and sister Anoimalo Fano Ume. She is survived by her brothers Tineiafi Ron Fano (Hayward, CA), TC Tautai Aviata Fa'alevao (American Samoa); and sisters Faitoto'a Letuli Sao (Corona, CA), Sulusamoa Fa'alevao (Toamua, Samoa), and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be missed but we will forever cherish the memories we share of her.

Memorial Services for family/friends will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013, 9:00 A.M. at the Forest Lawn-Long Beach, 1500 E. San Antonio Drive, Long Beach, CA.
