Graveside Service of Isgoohie Hovsepian
Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills
12:30 - 1:00 pm (Pacific time)
Isgouhi Hovsepian, born on December 23, 1944, in Halab, Syria, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026 with family by her side. She lived a life filled with deep love for her family and friends. She taught her children by the example she set of how to be strong and resilient. She cherished her relationships both personally and professionally. She built a successful business without any formal education based on her passion for sewing.
Isgouhi was known for being a strong and independent woman who was a force to be reckoned with. Her passion was fueled by the desire to make a better life for her family.
As a young girl, her family relocated from Halab to Anjar followed by Bourj-Hamood where she attended school and worked to help her family. These formative experiences nurtured her lifelong love for family, culture and a hard work ethic.
In 1959, Isgouhi Tachjian met a charming man named Armen Hovsepian while working at her job. The two fell in love and got engaged shortly thereafter. They wed on Janurary 27th,1962. Together they built a beautiful family and were blessed with four children: Maral, Joseph, Sona, and Taline.
In 1976, after the heartbreaking loss of their firstborn daughter Maral, Isgouhi and Armen made the courageous decision to leave Beirut and begin a new journey in the United States. They arrived in Altadena, California, in October of 1976, where they were welcomed with open arms by Armen’s family. Armen’s younger sister Mary and her husband Abraham generously provided them with a place to stay as they began rebuilding their lives in the United States.
Once on their feet, Isgouhi and Armen moved into a home in Pasadena with their three children, where they lived until 1982. Through hard work, perseverance, and dedication, they were able to purchase their first and only home in Van Nuys, California. That home quickly became a gathering place for family and friends, filled with laughter, countless barbecues, dips in the pool and unforgettable celebrations. Isgouhi and Armen truly lived for family—the more the merrier. They loved hosting, cooking, and feeding everyone who came through their doors. Seeing others happy brought them immense joy. They especially loved having their adult children and grandchildren over every Sunday where food laughter and storytelling was the main theme.
In her final days, Isgouhi remained surrounded by the love of her family and the memories of a life well lived. As we come together to honor her memory, we carry forward her legacy of warmth, generosity, and unconditional love.
A funeral service celebrating Isgouhi’s life will be held on April 1, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Forest Lawn – Hollywood Hills, located at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend as we gather to share memories, celebrate her remarkable life, and express gratitude for the time we were blessed to spend with such a beautiful soul.
