Graveside Service of Isgoohie Hovsepian
Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills
12:30 - 1:00 pm (Pacific time)
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Isgouhi Hovsepian, who was born on December 23, 1944 in Aleppo, Syria and passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family.
Isgouhi lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family. A woman of remarkable determination, she built a successful business without the benefit of formal education. Beginning with a single sewing machine in her home, she worked tirelessly to support her family, eventually opening her own shop, which she proudly operated for 25 years before retiring. Through her example, she taught her children that hard work, courage, and perseverance could overcome any obstacle.
As a young girl, Isgouhi’s family relocated from Aleppo, Syria to Beirut, Lebanon where she attended school while also working to help support her family. These early experiences shaped her strong character and deep appreciation for family, culture, and tradition—values that remained at the center of her life.
In 1959, Isgouhi Tachjian met the love of her life, Armen Hovsepian. Their love story began while working together and soon blossomed into a lifelong partnership. They married on January 27, 1962, and together built a beautiful family, welcoming four children: Maral, Joseph, Sona, and Taline.
In 1976, after the heartbreaking loss of their beloved firstborn daughter Maral, Isgouhi and Armen made the courageous decision to leave Beirut and begin a new chapter in the United States. They arrived in Altadena, California, in October of that year, where they were welcomed with open arms by Armen’s family. His sister Mary and her husband Abraham generously opened their home to help them begin again in a new country.
Through perseverance and sacrifice, Isgouhi and Armen rebuilt their lives and eventually settled in their home in Van Nuys, California. That home became the heart of their family—a place where doors were always open, tables were always full, and laughter was never far away. Isgouhi found great joy in cooking, hosting, and bringing loved ones together. Family gatherings were her greatest happiness, especially the cherished Sunday meals where children and grandchildren gathered to share food, stories, and love.
Isgouhi was known as a strong and independent woman—a true matriarch and a force to be reckoned with. She faced life’s hardships with quiet strength and met life’s joys with generosity and warmth. Her love for her family was boundless, and the legacy she leaves behind will live on through the generations she nurtured.
In her final days, she remained surrounded by those she loved, carrying in her heart the memory of her beloved husband until they are reunited once again. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A funeral service will be held on April 1, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Forest Lawn – Hollywood Hills, located at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068.
May her memory be eternal.
