Tewksbury, MA: Irving G. Lufkin, Jr., 82, a former resident of Tewksbury, died on June 27, 2014 at the Nevins Home in Methuen surrounded by his loving family.
Born is Rockland, ME and raised in Thomaston, ME, son of the late Irving and Evelyn (Hamilton) Lufkin, Mr. Lufkin served as a Private First Class in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
In his younger years while a resident of Maine, Mr. Lufkin worked as a tide fisherman and also as a Cushman Bakery truck driver. He moved to Hampstead, NH in 1965 and lived there for twenty-eight years and worked as a traveling salesman for several local companies. He also began his career as a security guard at Raytheon in Andover, from where he retired in 1997.
Mr. Lufkin was previously married for twenty-eight years to the late Frances (Guyette) Lufkin of Union, ME. He was also predeceased by his wife Constance "Connie" (Furnari) Lufkin of Andover, MA, to whom he was married until her death in 2009. During their marriage of twenty-two years, they shared homes in Andover, North Andover, and Tewksbury.
Mr. Lufkin enjoyed being around his grandchildren and was known as "Bumpa" and being a loving and supportive father and grandfather. He was a former member of the Hampstead Congregational Church and enjoyed stamp collecting for many years.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Denise (Santos) Lufkin of East Hampstead, NH, two daughters, Bonnie Jean Gaudette and her husband Rodney of Kingston, NH, and Deborah (Mrs. Richard) Ouellette of Bedford, NH, a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald P. and Louise Lufkin of Warren, ME, a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Elwin Mank of West Rockport, ME, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a step-son Vincent Aleci, Jr. and his wife Debbie, and a step-daughter Frances Aleci and her husband Sal Sachetta, a step-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, July 10 from 4 to 6:45 p.m. at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow on Thursday, July 10 at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
