Irma Helen Ford

Irma H. Ford was born in Stettin Germany on April 28, 1923. She passed away at PIH-Downey Hospital on January 15, 2018 due to complications of congestive heart failure. She was 94 years old.

As a teenager she as drafted by the German Air Force and served as a Morse code operator during World War II. All of her family was lost in the war.

After peace was declared Irma met an American Army Private, Fred Ford. They fell in love and were married in Frankfurt Germany.

Fred brought Irma to the United States via military ship where Irma entered the United States by way of Ellis Island. They eventually settled in Downey, California in the early 1950's. They lived in the same house their entire life. They were married for 42 years until Fred passed away in December 1990.

She is survived by a daughter, Helen Ford, and a daughter-in-law, Susan Ford. Her beloved son, John Ford, passed away one week after Irma.

Although Irma had numerous health issues over the years she continued to live her life with compassion, dignity, courage and faith.

We will miss her and look forward to the time when we are reunited.
